On arriving at the centre your instructor will begin with a safety briefing, some instructions on your kart controls and you'll be provided with some protective clothing.
To familiarise you with the karts and the circuit there will be a few initial practice laps. Then the competitive action begins with a typical programme consisting of a series of thrilling heats, semi-finals and top performers experiencing a heart-thumping final. The total experience will last approximately 1½ to 4 hours depending on the location.
You need to know
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this activity.
This is quite a physical activity and may not be suitable if you have weak arms, heart complaints etc. The minimum height is 1.34m (4ft 5), the maximum is 1.98 (6ft 6). The maximum weight is 108kg (17 stone).
You don't need to have a driving licence to go karting.
